Trump Inaugural Portrait

King Donald the 1st issued a series of edicts on his first day, just as he said he would. Some were rescinded before they took effect, and others ended up in court. The charges were they either were illegal, unconstitutional, or both. Of course, he couldn’t be bothered with such niceties. He wants his revenge, and he wants it now. It’s hard to figure out who the court jester is.

One agency was disbanded in 48 hours, and a letter was sent to Congress asking to demolish a Cabinet-level department. J. Edgar Hoover must be rolling over in his grave. Frozen funds sent shivers down the back of thousands of contractors, non-profits, and people and nations on the dole.

The clear objective is to first break things and then figure out how to fix them, replace them, or abandon them. The process is to make a big splash that will send the media into a swoon. Although none of it is secret, on the other hand, none of it is transparent. Even the King’s court has trouble sometimes untangling things. At least they have learned to quote the party line word for word, expletives included.

The Democrats are in a tizzy, running around in circles without any ideas of how to deal with it. They not only were voted out of office, polls rank them even lower. They hope they can squeak out three special election seats. They keep asking for money to help pass laws to unravel all this without any votes to get them through Congress. Yes, Citizen’s United is a sham, but who is going to fix it?

His Highness already has managed to alienate our partners, ranging from Canada to Saudi Arabia. Why so much talk about winning friends, when threats work better. Towers of democracy, such as El Salvador, volunteer that they’re happy to take a few thousand immigrants off his hands. That would save the expense of sending them to Gitmo.

Thousands of people were demonstrating last Wednesday in the vain hope that he even would take notice. He simply will call for more law and order and send in the National Guard to quell the “riots.”

To date, the Republicans have held fast, but I predict a lot of them will get voted out at mid-terms. When the tariffs take full effect and Inflation soars again, a lot of MAGA men are going to have buyer’s remorse. Some of the Jan 6th team who were pardoned may have wished they stayed in jail. They already got killed in shootings or accidents. The Promised Land is starting to look further down the horizon. It’s only been two weeks, but some folks are wondering when the King will take a vacation and head for the golf course.
