For those I’ve loved and lost, may the Peace of God rest upon you.
For myself, I ask God’s assurance that my life has not been in vain.
Through decades of struggle and failures to be obedient to God’s word, I ask for forgiveness.
When I have let the repressed anger triggered by minor slights and frustrations bubble over into hatred, I have not followed the way of Peace.
The Grace of God is a present given freely; it is a present without price. How I wish I could have been more discerning and responded with kindness rather than curtness and sarcasm.
We cannot undo the past nor dwell in regrets and recriminations for what we have or might not have done. I finally have learned to give up the role of a victim and to accept the reality not only is, but also what may be. The past is dead, and the future is a mystery.
Live in peace, justice, and the promise that is offered to each of us if we will just reach out and accept it.
