We have been told that Immigration Reform, Solutions to the Climate Crisis, and Gun Violence all will be resolved on January 21st. I can’t wait to see the details. We know the general idea — break things. Get rid of the establishment, or anyone who knows what they’re doing, and do away with taxes and services. All that money just goes to deadbeats anyway. None of the generals know anything.
Social Security and Medicare have been called the third rail of politics, but the Republicans keep attacking them as “entitlements.” Forty million AARP members may have something to say about that.
Everyone keeps wondering when President Musk is going to move out of Mar-A-Largo; probably when his assistant gets tired of Elon’s ego. Only one person can be-in-charge of everything, including every detail of the lives 330+ million people.
We’re catching up with China on telling us what we can’t do and spying on us to make sure that we don’t do it. They even have gotten in the bedrooms and the restrooms. Is there so no such thing as privacy anymore? Everyone cries about social media and then immediately posts on Facebook. Everyone is concerned about protecting about children from bad books but doesn’t seem to care if they get lunch or not.
The media (who is that?) love controversy, particularly when it gets loud and violent. It shows up good in pictures and videos. That’s why we love to see car wrecks and homicides.
So, the stock market closed at a 4-year high in 2024. It was time for it to come back down again anyway. Inflation got down to 2.5 percent, so we need some tariffs to bring it back up to 9.5 percent. We hadn’t maintained bridges, roads, sewers, power lines, and transit in decades, but who needs them anyway? We have a helicopter to get us to our private jet at the airport.
Those poor stiffs who work construction or on the assembly line are going to get replaced by robots so who needs them? Let the broccoli rot in the field; I don’t like it anyway. I’m from Texas so I’m a meat and potatoes man. Don’t feed me any of that Mediterranean stuff. The Government alphabet soup of FDA, EPA, FCC, etc. is just a bunch of make-work projects. Look what our educational system has produced!
I was thinking about moving to Portugal, but my telemedicine visits don’t stretch that far. I understand they have a superior healthcare system, but I don’t want to have to fill out all that paperwork all over again. The Post Office probably wouldn’t be able to find me to send me my refund check after all my taxes are cut. I didn’t vote for “you know who,” so I’m probably on his enemies list. Do you think he knows where Portugal is?
I’m only 10 months from hitting 90. I figure that I’m about worn out anyway and couldn’t last the trip. I’ve been to Spain, and that’s close enough. A friend of mine just made that 500-mile pilgrimage there, but she’s in a lot better shape than I am. She went from there to Scotland. I guess she likes countries with names that start with S. Maybe we could delete U-S, which seems to be what a lot of folks want to do with us seniors.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
