A document called "Project 2025" developed by the Heritage Foundation in 2024 proposed a wide range of changes in government, federal regulations, and federal cabinet departments. It may become the new Bible of Federal regulations and legislation.
Speaking of the Bible, you know, it’s strange how Jesus talked about divorce and never once mentioned us gay people. Yes, Paul went on a diatribe, but he was mad at the Romans and all the big orgies they had.
The acronym LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) may overnight disappear from all federal documents. Similarly, DEI (Diversity, Education, and Inclusion) may be wiped out.
Since government usually proceeds at a snail’s pace, it is hard to assume that anything will change that quickly. Whatever phrases you can use to describe the community, we simply will not disappear from public view. We’re not going back in the closet regardless of what the Feds may say.
We may revert to a simpler world of male/female with no gradations or reference to Kensey statistics. Sex may become immutable at birth. And that is that. We may just wipe out 70 years of research and 5,000 years of history. All it may take is a few Executive Orders, and the decrees may go into effect.
So, will all those folks formerly lumped together in that acronym just disappear overnight? I don’t think so. They may make life difficult for us and pull down the shame-curtains on us again, but unless they have about 15 million funerals, they’re stuck with us.
If so, Broadway and the film industry would collapse. Never mind the beauticians and church organists. I don’t care what men say, women would never put up with that. Meta may tell us we can say anything we want, true or not, but the FCC may become the new truth police (if it survives.)
The military may be all straight again, but no amount of lying would cover it up. I guess all those folks would be summarily discharged. Oh boy, are the lawyers going to have field day. Lamba Legal may have to issue stock and get listed on the NYSE.
Culture change always is hard to predict. When I was growing up, I thought that meant that people were talking about the opera. Maybe it was just soap operas. Well, we’re going to be faced with a lot of melodramas.
