OutRaleigh Pride 2024The LGBT Center of Raleigh hosted its most successful street fair and festival OutRaleigh in June.

The LGBT Center of Raleigh traces its history back for 30 years to the time of Triangle Community Works. The Center opened as a stand-alone location in 2010. The website of the Center has a detailed history of the various locations and programs of the Center up until the Pandemic, when it was forced to shut down except for an office space. Since 2019, it has been limited to small office spaces and various temporary facilities. The planned joint venture at 4 North Blount St. did not work out.

A report from the Executive Director Kori Hennessey:

“The LGBT Center of Raleigh is operating out of our temporary office at 3109 Poplarwood Court. We have support services such as our free clothing closet, name change navigation, case management, free personal care and pantry items, and more. Some of our programs are being held at the Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub and others either online or at different locations around Wake County. Most everything can be found on our website calendar.

“Our new community center location is currently being renovated. We were hoping it would be ready by this year, but with delays beyond our control, our timeline has been pushed out a bit. We will have updates for the community soon. The new location will be at 128 East Cabarrus Street and has a small, private parking lot behind the building.”
